Practical answers for families

Pod learning is a small-group model in which 1–4 students attend live online lessons with an instructor. The pod follows a structured curriculum while leaving room for questions, discussion, and active participation.

Each SummitBound Learning pod is designed for 1–4 students. The separate 1:1 Tutoring service includes one learner and one instructor.

Yes. Classes are planned as live online sessions. Students will need a reliable internet connection and a device that supports video conferencing.

1:1 Tutoring is available for learners of any age or grade level. Support can focus on homework, assignments, test preparation, concept review, skill building, or another academic goal discussed during intake.

The learning pods are curriculum-based and are not primarily homework help. The separate 1:1 Tutoring service can be used for homework, assignments, concept review, or other individual academic goals.

The learning pods are not test-preparation programs. Test and exam preparation can be requested through the separate 1:1 Tutoring service for learners of any age or grade level.

### What curriculum do you follow? Our curriculum is aligned with California’s academic standards. For mathematics, we follow the California Common Core State Standards, and for science, we follow the California Next Generation Science Standards (CA NGSS). We use high-quality, age-appropriate curriculum materials and resources to bring these standards to life through engaging instruction, hands-on learning, problem-solving, and real-world applications. Specific materials and resources may vary by grade level and subject.

Math students grouped by course readiness for Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, or Geometry. Science students are grouped by grade level, and K–5 students join the integrated Foundations program. Placement may also consider current understanding and schedule availability.

Students should have a laptop or desktop computer with a working camera and microphone, a reliable internet connection, and access to the selected video-class platform. Any additional materials will be listed before enrollment.

Pod session run for 1 hour and 15 minutes while 1:1 tutoring sessions run for 1 hour.

Each unit runs for 4 weeks and includes 8 live sessions, with 2 sessions each week. Exact meeting days and times depend on pod placement and availability.

Families can join the interest list and share the student’s grade, program interest, goals, and availability. SummitBound Learning will then follow up with placement and enrollment information.

A student may remain on the interest list while a compatible pod is formed. Families should receive a straightforward update about current availability and possible next steps; no placement is implied until it is confirmed.
